Will The Empire of Liberty Surpassed by The Rise of China?

The rapid development of China brings up the assumptions that China might replace The United States as the superpower. China has the material to be the superpower both politically and economically. The existing international order benefit China and help them to expand their global power. China economy power is the most significant aspect that supports the growth of China to be a superpower. The size of its economy has quadrupled since the launch of market reform in the late 1970s and will double again over the next decade. However, for decades observer had predicted that China would become a superpower but after the triumph of communism that caused so many issue such civil war and massive demonstrations, which affects China’s regional stability might hinder China from fulfilling its potential to be a superpower.
China in terms of politic within the international politics has expanding its influence. They are currently attempting in increasing its influence within international politic and the existing international order benefit china in a way that help them to fulfil their mission. China diplomacy has extended its reach not just in Asia but also in Africa, Latin America and the Middle East. Aside from their expansion in diplomacy, China has increases its power and position in the United Nations. In the United Nations Security Council, China is one of five countries with a veto together with other four powerful states like United States, United Kingdom, Russia and France. China is currently the second largest founder of United Nations peacekeeping forces and has participated in United Nations Programs related to Ebola and climate changes. In 2015, Beijing joined with Washington in developing new norms for dealing with climate change and conflicts in cyberspace. Despite from expansion in political power within international politics, China also has increased their military spending at an inflations adjusted rate over 18 percent a year. China perseverance in proliferating their political influence in international politics has become a proof for China’s capability in surpassing United States global power.
The proliferation of China’s economy is unimpeachable material that will support China’s mission in becoming superpower and overrides United States power. China is taking advantages from the globalized society to boost their economic development through international trade and international economy organization such as World Trading Organizations (WTO). China’s formal admission to the WTO on December 2001 marked the country’s full-scale entry into the global economy and its recognition as an emerging economic superpower, it is possible that China comes to champion WTO. Beijing’s growing commitment to economic liberalisation has increased the foreign investment and trade China has enjoyed. China has gained so much from Liberal economic institutions within international politics. The globalized world has increased the economic interdependence, which somehow is beneficial for China’s economic growth. There are many states who dependent on China’s economy. The stability of China’s economy is vital to the United States and the rest of the world. The Walmart is one of the biggest American retail company has imported over $30 billion worth of Chinese goods to sell in the United States accounting for about 80 percent of the company’s total imports and 15 percent of America’s total imports of Chinese consumer products. China has become one of the world’s major manufacturing centers and consumes roughly a third of the global supply of iron, steel and coal. In the results China has accumulated massive foreign reserves worth more than $1 trillion at the end of 2006.
China might be politically and economically strong within International Politic and it will fulfill China’s capability to overrides United States power. However, China is can be said that they are internationally strong but they are regionally weak which will hinder their development to fulfill their potential in becoming superpower.
The politic conditions in China is unstable particularly because the existence of China communist party. The communisms in China bring a regional political instability through a number of brute protests that cause security crisis in China. The regime brutally suppressed the country’s budding democracy movement, which first appeared in 1978-1979 with posters in Beijing protesting corruption and authoritarianism. The melting point of this battle against communism was happened in April 1989. The student protest erupted in Beijing and continued during the visit by Gorbachev. The students occupied Tianmen squares in the City’s center but on 4 June 1989, Chinese army units brutally attacked the demonstrators, killing hundreds of people.
The lack of political liberalization will surely hindering China in becoming a superpower and the possibility of the overthrown communism that will lead to the complete breakdown of China governance. The absence of democratic checks and balances will haunt China from the threat of demonstrations and devastate stability of the state. In order for a state to earned superpower position, it should be able to have a solid ground and have a constant stability.
The regional economic prospect of China is unsatisfactory, which might hamper China’s economic growth. China’s uneven economic development poses an additional danger. The country’s growth only centralized in its coastal provinces. Meanwhile, the country’s inferior remains backward and agricultural. The regional disparities are widening. While, in order for China to be more powerful than United States and earned their superpower title, they should able to achieved equal development in all regions within the states. The other threat that might endanger China’s economic growth is widespread corruption of communist officials. One of the cases is the corruption in natural resources sector. China’s natural resources industries are non-transparent hence leaving significant room for corruption. Jiang Jiemin the executive leader of Petro China was accumulated USD 2.3 millions in assets while in office through corrupt schemes.
In conclusions it can be said that China is internationally powerful but regionally weak. China might have a vigorous facet to build their empire, which clearly shown in their consistency burgeoning their political influence in international realm and their tremendous economic growth. However, China’s regional outlook is hampering China in fulfilling their potency in surpassing United States power. The existence of communism within China government system is like a deleterious malady that gradually blemish China's organ from the inside and one day might completely paralysed China. The communist has caused regional instability through a series of detrimental event such being haunted by massive protest to the non-transparent system that leave a huge opportunity for corruptions. Therefore, in order for China to be able to earned the title of superpower, China should able to have stability both in regional and international arena.
